Planting & Care for Living Willow

Living willow needs to be planted straight away or stood in water until you are ready for planting (we suggest early March to May).

Although willow is a hardy plant we cannot guarantee vigorous growth as different types of soil and geographic area will determine success. All living willow structures must be kept well watered.

If you require living sticks please call us regarding availablity and price. 6ft - 8ft dependent on season. Collection is preferable.

Willow Cuttings

The best time to plant is between the beginning of February and the end of April (just when the rootlets are beginning to grow).

A modern hybrid variety of willow, which is disease resistant and grows rapidly.

From 12" cutting expect to get 6' to 10' growth in the first year.

Willow is tolerant of most soil types but preferably not free draining.

Plant in a good seedbed.

Maximum recommended density 17000 per acre or 38000 per hectare at 18" x 18" spacing.
